Connect with AI / MCP

You can now update your Portfoliofy profile without opening the editor. Connect an AI app once, then tell it what you want: add a new job, tighten your bio, or turn a pile of notes into a draft post.

It works through something called MCP, a standard way for AI apps to connect to other services. You don’t need to know how it works. You only need an address and a few clicks.

What you can ask for

  • “I joined Acme as a Product Designer in March. Add it to my work experience.”

  • “Rewrite my About section so it’s shorter and sounds less formal.”

  • “Turn these notes into a draft post called ‘What I learned from my first launch’.”

  • “Move Writing to the top of my profile.”

  • “How many people viewed my profile this month?”

  • “Undo that.”

The app can read your profile, edit your header, About text and every section, write and edit posts, reorder sections, set your status, and look at your profile views.

Set it up

You need a Portfoliofy account and an AI app that supports remote MCP connectors. The connection address is:

https://portfoliofyme.vercel.app/api/mcp

Claude

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors.

  2. Add a custom connector and paste the address above.

  3. Sign in with Google when it asks, then click Allow access.

That’s it. Ask Claude to summarise your profile to check it worked.

Claude Code

Run this in your terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http portfoliofy https://portfoliofyme.vercel.app/api/mcp

Cursor

Add this to your MCP settings:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "portfoliofy": {
      "url": "https://portfoliofyme.vercel.app/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Other apps

Look for a setting called MCP server or connector, and paste the address. You’ll be sent to Portfoliofy to sign in and approve access. The setup page at /connect has copy buttons for every step.

Staying in control

This is your public profile, so a few things are worth knowing.

Changes to your profile go live straight away. Look at what the app proposes before you agree, the same way you’d check a message before sending it.

Posts start as drafts. A new post stays private until you publish it, and publishing needs your say-so.

You can undo. Every change the app makes is saved first. Ask it to undo the last change, or to restore an older version. Portfoliofy keeps your last 50. Undo covers profile and post changes, but not your status. And if you’ve edited your profile yourself since the app’s change, it refuses to undo, so your own edits are never lost.

Passwords stay private. Page passwords are never shown to a connected app.

You can disconnect any app at any time. Open Edit profile, then Account, then Settings, and click Disconnect under the app. It loses access immediately. If you connect the same app again, the old connection is replaced automatically, so you’ll only ever see one.

Only connect apps you trust. An app reads whatever you give it: web pages, documents, emails. Text hidden in those could try to push it into doing something you didn’t ask for. Reading what it plans to change before you approve it is the best protection.

What it can’t do yet

  • Upload images or files.

  • Delete a post.

  • Change your username, custom domain or page passwords.

Do those in the editor as usual.

Try it

Connect an app, and ask it to summarise your profile first. Then ask for one small change, check it, and undo it. Once you’ve seen how it behaves, the rest is just asking.
